Peace is a precious gift given by the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. God's peace transcends all understandings. Peace is the state of being totally Happy, Healthy, and complete without any worries, tension or anxiety! Peace of Christ is the condition of being in harmony and calmness of body, mind and spirit that surpasses earthly perceptions. On the third day after His sorrowful Passion and Death, when Jesus Christ rose and appeared to His Apostles and disciples, He gave them His Peace profoundly and repeatedly!
In the Catholic Church, during the Holy Eucharistic celebrations, the Peace of the Risen Lord is offered by the Celebrant to the participants. And the community is asked to exchange a 'Sign of Peace' with one another. Then the people wish each other a 'sign of peace' in their local customs and traditions.
In European countries some participants in the Holy Mass hug each other and some others kiss or shake hands with one another according to their customs.
In India also during the Holy Masses in Malayalam and other languages, the Priest gives the Peace of the Lord to the community and asks to offer the sign of peace with each other. According to the Indian custom, the faithful 'joins his/her hands and gives a sign of peace to his/her naighbours in the Church.
How to give (offer) peace in Holy Kurbana?
Many people without understanding what they are doing, simply stoop down too much before the persons near them. It is not proper. While exchanging the Peace of the Lord, each faithful should slightly bow his head looking in the eyes of his neighbour and give 'Peace' with joined hands with a calm and joyful smile.
മലയാളം ദിവ്യബലിയിൽ പരസ്പരം എങ്ങനെ സമാധാനം നൽകണം?
"സഹോദരരേ മിശിഹായുടെ സ്നേഹത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾ സമാധാനം നൽകുവിൻ" എന്ന് സിറോ മലബാർ വിശുദ്ധ ഖുർബാനയിൽ ശ്രുശൂഷി ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഓരോ വിശ്വാസിയും അടുത്ത് നിൽക്കുന്ന സഹ വിശ്വാസിയുടെ നേരെ തിരിഞ്ഞു, കണ്ണുകളിൽ നോക്കി മന്ദഹസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു (പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്) "സമാധാനം' എന്ന് താഴ്ന്ന സ്വരത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട്, തല അല്പം താഴ്ത്തി ആശംസിക്കുക!
വ്യക്‌തിയുടെ മുഖത്ത് നോക്കാതെ കുമ്പിടുന്നത് തീർത്തും അർത്ഥ ഹീനമാണെന്നു മനസിലാക്കുക!
അപ്രകാരം തന്നെ ലത്തീൻ ദിവ്യ ബലിയിലും "നിങ്ങൾ പരസ്പരം സമാധാനം ആശംസിക്കുവിൻ" എന്ന് പറയുമ്പോൾ മുകളിൽ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്യുവാൻ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. അതുപോലെ തന്നെ ആളില്ലാത്ത വശത്തേക്ക് നോക്കി മതിലിന്റെ വശത്തേക്കു കുമ്പിടുന്നതും എത്ര അപഹാസ്യമാണെന്നു മനസിലാക്കുക!
