Prayer for the Election of Syro-Malabar Church head 2024

Following the Resignation of Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, the Major Arch Bishop of the Syro Malabar Catholic Apostolic Church, as its patriarch head on 7th December 2023 following old age and other health issues, the Synod of the Church is meeting in January 2024 to elect a new head. 

The Syro-Malabar Church is one of the 23 Oriental (Eastern) Churches keeping full communion with the Universal Catholic Church headed by the Pope. It is the largest Catholic Church after the Latin Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Election of the Heads of the Churches are not like that of the political parties. There won't be any campaigning or canvassing. The members of the synod meet in Prayer and seek the discernment of the Holy Spirit to vote and elect the candidate whom Lord Jesus Christ wants to lead His Church in this difficult times.

Hence the Administrator of the Syro Malabar Church, Bishop Mar Sebastian Vaniapurackal is informing all the members of the Syro Malabar community to pray the above election preparation prayer for electing the Major Arch Bishop, in all our Churches, Religious homes and in institutions after the Holy Masses and in all homes after the family prayers.

Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary, Thodupuzha, Kerala

Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary is a famous Pilgrim Center in Thodupuzha of Idukki district. As the Infinite Mercy of Lord Jesus Christ is flowing abundantly here, many devotees belonging to different religions visit this Shrine and pray for the fulfilment of their intentions. It is a recently developed Shrine and was officially established on 2006 August 15. As per the directions of the Holy Virgin Mary, Who appeared to a 7-year old girl Chippy several times, her parents Puthiyedathu John and Reji handed over the house in which they were living and the Grotto constructed within it to the Syro Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Kothamangalam. And the Diocesan Bishop Mar George Punnakottil blessed it and Christened it as "Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary".

Within a short time, the name and fame of the Shrine spread to different parts of the state and today the Shrine is being visited by pilgrims not only from Kerala state, but also from other Indian states and even from some foreign countries. It has become a centre of solace for all who are weary and heavy laden and many devotees testify that they have received numerous miracles in their lives through the intervention of the Holy Virgin Mother Who is the patron of this Holy place.

The Divine Mercy Shrine is located at a distance of about 1.2 km from the Thodupuzha private bus stand. It is situated some 450 meters inside from the Thodupuzha-Pala main road.

Rev Fr George Chettur is the present Rector. He is a pious Priest, a notable preacher and a gifted counsellor.

To assist the spiritual functioning of the Shrine and to upkeep its cleanliness and sanctity, some Rev Sisters belonging to the SABS congregation are also deputed there.

Timings and Schedule of Spiritual services:

Spiritual Services like Holy Masses, Rosary prayers, Divine Mercy Chaplets and Novenas, Way of the Cross etc. are held there daily as per the schedule published by the authorities. In addition to them, special prayer meetings are conducted for the kids, for the youth and for the fruitless couples.

Confessions are heard everyday.

The perpetual Adoration Chapel is open for the public to worship from morning 8.00 am till night 8.00 pm everyday.

Prayer to Apostle St James യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായോടുള്ള

നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ ഈശോമിശിഹായുടെ പന്ത്രണ്ടു ശ്ലീഹന്മാരിൽ പ്രധാനികളായ മൂവരാണ് വിശുദ്ധ പത്രോസ്, വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബ്, വിശുദ്ധ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവർ. കർത്താവു എല്ലാ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെയും കൊണ്ടുപോകാത്ത പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ഈ മൂന്നു പേരെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതായി പരിശുദ്ധ വേദപുസ്തകത്തിൽ നാം കാണുന്നു. 

വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബും വിശുദ്ധ യോഹന്നാനും സെബദി എന്ന മനുഷ്യന്റെ മക്കളും സഹോദരങ്ങളും ആയിരുന്നു. ഇവർ ബലിഷ്ഠമായ ആകാരവും തീഷ്ണമായ പെരുമാറ്റവും ഉള്ളവരായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവു ഇവരെ 'ഇടിമുഴക്കത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ' (Boanerges) എന്ന് വിളിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. 

യേശു കർത്താവിന്റെ അപ്പോസ്തലന്മാരിൽ യോഹന്നാൻ ശ്ലീഹ ഒഴികെയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുംതന്നെ രക്തസാക്ഷികളായി മരണം വരിച്ചു. ഇതിൽ ആദ്യമായി രക്തസാക്ഷ്യ മകുടം ചൂടൻ ഭാഗ്യം ലഭിച്ചത് അപ്പോസ്തലനായ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ളീഹാക്കാണ്! 

വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹ സുവിശേഷ പ്രഘോഷണത്തിനായി പോയത് സ്പെയിൻ ദേശത്തേക്കാണ്. അവിടുത്തെ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് കർത്താവിനെപ്പറ്റി  പഠിപ്പിച്ചു അവരെ വിശ്വാസികളാക്കി. ഒരിക്കൽ വലിയ ഒരു സൈന്യവുമായി മുഹമ്മദീയർ സ്പെയിൻ രാജ്യം  ആക്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ പരിഭ്രാന്തരായ രാജാവും ജനങ്ങളും തങ്ങളുടെ സ്വർഗീയ മധ്യസ്ഥനായ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായുടെ സഹായം അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും, ശ്ലീഹ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒരു വെള്ളക്കുതിരയുടെ പുറത്തു, വെള്ളിടിത്തീ പോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന വാളുമേന്തി, മുഖ്യ ദൂതനായ റപ്പായേൽ മാലാഖയുമായെത്തി യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു രാജ്യത്തെ രക്ഷിച്ചത് ഒരു ചരിത്ര സത്യം!  

തിരുസഭയുടെയും സത്യ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെയും ശത്രുക്കളിൽനിന്നും, കൂടോത്രം, ദുർമന്ത്രവാദം, കൈവിഷം, അതുപോലുള്ള ആഭിചാരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും, ഇസ്ലാമിക ജിൻ പോലുള്ള ദുർശക്തികളിൽനിന്നും വിടുതലും സംരക്ഷണവും ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായോടുള്ള ഈ പ്രാർത്ഥന വളരെ ഫലദായകമാണ്!

3rd Grandparents Day, Plenary Indulgence day in Catholic Church

നാം ഇപ്പോൾ ആയിരിക്കുന്നത് ദൈവകരുണയുടെ യുഗത്തിലാണ്. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനന്തമായ കരുണ പെരുമഴപോലെ ഇടതടവില്ലാതെ പെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന കാലം. ഏതൊരു കൊടും പാപിക്കും, തന്റെ പാപത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ബോധ്യം ലഭിച്ചാൽ അതിനെയോർത്തു ആഴമായി അനുതപിച്ചിട്ടു, കർത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വന്നു (തിരുസഭയിലെ പുരോഹിതനോട്) പാപസങ്കീർത്തനത്തിലൂടെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞാൽ പരിപൂർണ പാപമോചനം ഉടനടി ലഭിക്കും.  

എന്നാൽ ഒരുവൻ ചെയ്തുകൂട്ടിയ എല്ലാ പാപങ്ങളും പശ്ചാത്താപത്തോടുകൂടിയ കുമ്പസാരം വഴി ക്ഷമിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോഴും, പാപങ്ങളുടെ പരിണിതഫലങ്ങൾക്കു താൻതന്നെ പരിഹാരപ്രവർത്തികൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതായുണ്ട്. ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ മരണശേഷം സ്വർഗത്തിൽ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിന് മുൻപ് ശുദ്ധീകരണ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള കാലികശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ചു ശുദ്ധി പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതായുണ്ട്. 

ഇതിനു ഒരു പോംവഴിയായി കാലാകാലങ്ങളിൽ പ്രത്യേക സന്ദർഭങ്ങളിൽ കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയുടെ തലവന്മാരായ മാർപാപ്പാമാർ, തങ്ങൾക്കു സഭയുടെ സ്ഥാപകനും ഉടയവനുമായ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു നൽകിയ അധികാരം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് 'ദണ്ഡവിമോചനം' നൽകിവരുന്നു! ദണ്ഡവിമോചനം പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള ദിവസം നല്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള നിർദേശങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായി പാലിച്ചാൽ ഏതൊരു കൊടിയ പാപിക്കും  പരിപൂർണ വിശുദ്ധി പ്രാപിക്കാവുന്നതും (ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോഴോ മരണ ശേഷമോ സ്വന്തം പ്രവർത്തികളുടെ പരിണിത ഫലമായി അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന കാലിക ശിക്ഷകൾ അനുഭവിക്കാതെ തന്നെ)  മരണശേഷം നേരിട്ട് സ്വർഗത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്നതും ആണ്.

The Visitation: Why did Blessed Virgin Mary visit Elizabeth?

 

Today ie. the last day of May month, we commemorate a very important feast of the Blessed Virgin Mother of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This Feast is known as 'The Visitation'! It is to mark the great event of the Blessed Virgin Mary, hurried to a town named 'Ein Karem' in the hill country of Judea, immediately after receiving the message of the Almighty God through the Arch Angel Gabriel. (Lk 1:38-39).

These above versus from the Holy Bible alone are sufficient to understand the significance of Blessed Virgin Mary. The Holy Virgin with the Lord in Her womb, travelled to a distance of more than 100 kilometers through a dangerous path to accomplish a major mission from God. (It is not mentioned that whether she was accompanied by someone).

Why did the Blessed Virgin Mary travel speedily day and night through that rough and wild path to Priest Zachariah's house? 

We are taught that it is to serve Her relative (cousin/aunt) Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah, who was carrying John the Baptist in her womb.

When we read Lk 1:40 & 41 it is clearly stated what God's Great Mission was.. and why the Mother of Incarnated God journeyed such a vast distance suddenly! 

"40. She (Mary) entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."

Question: Why did the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary hasten to Elizabeth's house after the 'Annunciation'?

Answer: The Blessed Virgin Mary hastened to Elizabeth's house to fill Elizabeth and the child in her womb (John) with the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Mother might have definitely served the old lady, but Her primary assignment was to fill the mother and the baby with the Holy Spirit of the Almighty God, which no one under the sun could do other than Her! Because when the Angel of the Lord appeared to Zachariah and foretold him about the birth of a son, he had also declared that the child (John) would be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he was born (when he is in the womb of his mother)!

"...and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born" (Lk 1: 15)

God had another great plan for sending the Graceful Virgin Mary to Elizabeth. When filled with the Holy spirit of God, Elizabeth made a solemn declaration which the Catholics and some Eastern Christians follow scrupulously! (And which the protestants do not even heed!) That is, that humble girl Mary from Nazareth in Galilee is the Mother of Lord, God! 

43. But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 

(Luke 1: 43)

This verse from the Holy Bible alone is enough for the Protestants and others who refuse to give proper reverence to the Mother of God. The Holy Spirit prompted a 'righteous old lady' (Lk 1:6) to proclaim that Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of her God, and she did so in a loud voice! 

When God wants all His faithful to honor His Mother, some unfortunate Christians disobey even today.

And whenever Catholics recite the second mystery of Holy Rosary Prayer

please remember that there is no proof in the Holy Bible that our Holy Mother served Elizabeth, but the Bible says, She filled both the mother and the baby in her womb with the Holy Spirit, by just greeting 'Shalom'! (Lk 1: 40-41)

"40. She entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."

This is a very effective short Catholic Prayer in Malayalam for healing the inner wounds. The inner wounds of a person play a vital role in his/her behavioral disabilities at any stage of one's life. There are many reasons for the inner wounds that are caused in a person. പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവേ, എഴുന്നള്ളി വരണമേ. അങ്ങേ ദാനങ്ങൾ നൽകി ഞങ്ങളെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഉറപ്പിക്കണമേ. സ്വർഗ്ഗ രാജ്യത്തെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രത്യാശയിൽ ഞങ്ങളെ നയിക്കണമേ. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ ദൈവ സ്നേഹത്താൽ ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കണമേ. സഹോദര സ്നേഹത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങളെ വളർത്തണമേ.  എല്ലാ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിലും ലോക രക്ഷകനായ മിശിഹായെ ഏറ്റുപറയുന്നതിനും സത്യസഭയുടെ അവകാശങ്ങൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും ആവശ്യമായ വിശ്വാസദാർഢ്യവും ധീരതയും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യണമേ.

Rev Fr James Manjackal's Golden Jubilee Interview

Rev Fr James Manjackal is a Spirit-filled Catholic Priest fully engaged in preaching the Gospel around the world. Even though his main area of service is Europe, he is a gift and pride to the Christian community of Kerala. He is one of the originators of the global Charismatic movement in Kerala. It is Manjackal Achan who founded the Charis Bhavan Retreat centre in Athirampuzha near Kottayam, which is one of the oldest and most reputed Charismatic Retreat centres in India.

Rev Fr Manjackal is a gifted Priest. Many people do not know that he is the first Priest in India to receive the 'Stigmata'. He also got a special chance to go directly and visit the Heaven, the hell and the Purgatory with the Grace of Lord Jesus in an 'After Death Experience' or NDE! 

On the occasion of commemorating his golden jubilee of Priestly Ordination on April 24th, in an interview to the Shekinah TV, he is revealing openly many interesting incidents of his life in the above embedded video.

4th International Mission Congress by FIAT in Kerala

The 4th edition of the International Mission Congress (also known as Great Gathering of Missions or GGM) organised by the Kerala based Missionary organization FIAT is scheduled to be held in a grand manner this year after a brief pause, owing to the covid-19 pandemic circumstances.

What is FIAT Mission?

FIAT Mission is a charitable Missionary organization founded and directed by a young layman by name Bro Sweetly George, who received a calling from above and is committed to spread the Gospel of Lord Jesus Christ to all nooks and corners of the earth. For the attainment of this noble and massive goal, FIAT has been successfully doing many initiatives. Printing the Holy Bible in every language which has a lipi (script) and distributing them to the people of that community free of cost, is the primary objective of FIAT Mission since its inception in 2007.

To exhibit their various mission activities and to show the missionary-minded persons/organisations the vast fields that are ripe and ready for harvest, FIAT is conducting an International Mission Congress every year since 2017.

CROWN OF THE SYRO-MALABAR CHURCH LEFT FOR ETERNAL CROWN

Mar Joseph Powathil, the senior most Catholic Bishop of Kerala, has passed away this afternoon at St Thomas Hospital in Chethipuzha, Changanasserry. The Emeritus Arch Bishop was 93. Mar Pawathil is known as the reformer of the modern Syro Malabar Church in Kerala. Acknowledging his bold stance in policies relating to Faith and his remarkable services rendered to the Chruch in Kerala, Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI called him 'CROWN of the Church'!

 അമ്മേ ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളവരെയും എല്ലാ വിപത്തുകളിൽ നിന്നും സദാ അങ്ങ് പരിരക്ഷിക്കുകയും, ദൈവത്തെ സേവിച്ചു നിര്മലരായി അവിടുത്തെ പ്രസാദവരത്തിൽ മരിക്കുവാനുള്ള കൃപ ലഭിക്കുന്നതിന് ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണമേ. ആമേൻ".

ക്രൈസ്തവ സഭയുടെ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയുടെ ഏറ്റവും കാതലായ, അടിസ്ഥാന നെടുംതൂണാണ് അനുസരണം എന്ന മഹാ പുണ്യം! ദൈവം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പ്രസ്ഥാനം തെരെഞ്ഞെടുത്ത നേതൃത്വത്തെ അനുസരിക്കുക എന്നത് ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ തന്നെ നിലനിൽപ്പിനു അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്. ലോകത്തെ പല ഭരണകൂടങ്ങളും അനുസരണത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയിലാണ് നിലനിന്നു പോരുന്നത്. 

കേരളത്തിലെയോ ഭാരതത്തിലെയോ സർക്കാരുകളെ ഉദാഹരണമായി എടുത്തു നോക്കുക. ഇവിടുത്തെ മുഖ്യ മന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയനെയോ പ്രധാന മന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോഡിയേയോ എടുക്കുക. അവരെക്കാൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും കഴിവും പ്രാപ്തിയും നന്മയും ഒക്കെയുള്ള എത്രയെത്രപേരാണ് അവരുടെ ആജ്ഞ ശിരസാവഹിക്കുന്നതു! അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താൽ മാത്രമേ സർക്കാരുകൾ നിലനിൽക്കൂ!

ഏതൊരു സ്ഥാപനമായാലും മേലധികാരികളെ അനുസരിക്കണം എന്നത് കർശനമായി പാലിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ട ഒരു ചട്ടമാണ്! അനുസരണം ഇല്ലാത്ത പ്രസ്ഥാനം നിലനിൽക്കില്ല. അഹങ്കാരം ഉള്ളിൽ നിറയുമ്പോഴാണ് അനുസരിക്കാൻ പ്രയാസം തോന്നുന്നത്. 

സർവശക്തനായ ദൈവം സൃഷ്ട്ടിച്ച പ്രധാന മാലാഖമാരിൽ ഒരുവനായിരുന്ന ലൂസിഫറിന് അഹങ്കാരം മുറ്റിയപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിനു മുകളിൽ അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനം സ്ഥാപിക്കുമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് ദൈവത്തെ അനുസരിക്കാൻ വിസമ്മതിച്ച സമയത്താണ് അവനും അവന്റെ കിങ്കിരന്മാരും സ്വർഗ്ഗ സൗഭാഗ്യത്തിൽ  നിന്ന് നിത്യനരകത്തിലേക്ക് തൂത്തെറിയപ്പെട്ടതു.

"JESUS, I LOVE YOU" POPE BENEDICT XVI LAST WORDS!

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who passed away peacefully on the last day of 2022 was a remarkable Pope in many angles! He strived hard to preserve the Catholic Christian values in the Church. The Church throughout the world has declared 5 days mourning and prayers until his funeral which is to be held on January 5th.

Following the departure of the former Pope, many videos related to his statements are going viral. In the above video, according to an information revealed by his personal secretary  Arch Bishop Georg Gänswein, the last words of the departed Pope were, "Jesus I love you!"  The Arch Bishop who was following the Pope Emeritus always like his shadow, stated that the Pope was repeatedly chanting the words "Jesus, I love you" until he calmly breathed his last and went to his eternal abode above!
