Prayer for the Election of Syro-Malabar Church head 2024

Following the Resignation of Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, the Major Arch Bishop of the Syro Malabar Catholic Apostolic Church, as its patriarch head on 7th December 2023 following old age and other health issues, the Synod of the Church is meeting in January 2024 to elect a new head. 

The Syro-Malabar Church is one of the 23 Oriental (Eastern) Churches keeping full communion with the Universal Catholic Church headed by the Pope. It is the largest Catholic Church after the Latin Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Election of the Heads of the Churches are not like that of the political parties. There won't be any campaigning or canvassing. The members of the synod meet in Prayer and seek the discernment of the Holy Spirit to vote and elect the candidate whom Lord Jesus Christ wants to lead His Church in this difficult times.

Hence the Administrator of the Syro Malabar Church, Bishop Mar Sebastian Vaniapurackal is informing all the members of the Syro Malabar community to pray the above election preparation prayer for electing the Major Arch Bishop, in all our Churches, Religious homes and in institutions after the Holy Masses and in all homes after the family prayers.

Many engage in intercessory prayers for themselves, their families, their country and the whole world, dedicating hours in perpetual adoration chapels where the Holy Sacrament is exposed. Thodupuzha town in Idukki district stands out as a hub for Eucharistic Adoration Centers. There are many churches and chapels where a significant number of Holy Masses are celebrated daily.

Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary, Thodupuzha, Kerala

Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary is a famous Pilgrim Center in Thodupuzha of Idukki district. As the Infinite Mercy of Lord Jesus Christ is flowing abundantly here, many devotees belonging to different religions visit this Shrine and pray for the fulfilment of their intentions. It is a recently developed Shrine and was officially established on 2006 August 15. As per the directions of the Holy Virgin Mary, Who appeared to a 7-year old girl Chippy several times, her parents Puthiyedathu John and Reji handed over the house in which they were living and the Grotto constructed within it to the Syro Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Kothamangalam. And the Diocesan Bishop Mar George Punnakottil blessed it and Christened it as "Divine Mercy Shrine of Holy Mary".

Within a short time, the name and fame of the Shrine spread to different parts of the state and today the Shrine is being visited by pilgrims not only from Kerala state, but also from other Indian states and even from some foreign countries. It has become a centre of solace for all who are weary and heavy laden and many devotees testify that they have received numerous miracles in their lives through the intervention of the Holy Virgin Mother Who is the patron of this Holy place.

The Divine Mercy Shrine is located at a distance of about 1.2 km from the Thodupuzha private bus stand. It is situated some 450 meters inside from the Thodupuzha-Pala main road.

Rev Fr George Chettur is the present Rector. He is a pious Priest, a notable preacher and a gifted counsellor.

To assist the spiritual functioning of the Shrine and to upkeep its cleanliness and sanctity, some Rev Sisters belonging to the SABS congregation are also deputed there.

Timings and Schedule of Spiritual services:

Spiritual Services like Holy Masses, Rosary prayers, Divine Mercy Chaplets and Novenas, Way of the Cross etc. are held there daily as per the schedule published by the authorities. In addition to them, special prayer meetings are conducted for the kids, for the youth and for the fruitless couples.

Confessions are heard everyday.

The perpetual Adoration Chapel is open for the public to worship from morning 8.00 am till night 8.00 pm everyday.

Prayer to Apostle St James യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായോടുള്ള

നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ ഈശോമിശിഹായുടെ പന്ത്രണ്ടു ശ്ലീഹന്മാരിൽ പ്രധാനികളായ മൂവരാണ് വിശുദ്ധ പത്രോസ്, വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബ്, വിശുദ്ധ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവർ. കർത്താവു എല്ലാ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെയും കൊണ്ടുപോകാത്ത പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ഈ മൂന്നു പേരെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതായി പരിശുദ്ധ വേദപുസ്തകത്തിൽ നാം കാണുന്നു. 

വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബും വിശുദ്ധ യോഹന്നാനും സെബദി എന്ന മനുഷ്യന്റെ മക്കളും സഹോദരങ്ങളും ആയിരുന്നു. ഇവർ ബലിഷ്ഠമായ ആകാരവും തീഷ്ണമായ പെരുമാറ്റവും ഉള്ളവരായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവു ഇവരെ 'ഇടിമുഴക്കത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ' (Boanerges) എന്ന് വിളിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. 

യേശു കർത്താവിന്റെ അപ്പോസ്തലന്മാരിൽ യോഹന്നാൻ ശ്ലീഹ ഒഴികെയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുംതന്നെ രക്തസാക്ഷികളായി മരണം വരിച്ചു. ഇതിൽ ആദ്യമായി രക്തസാക്ഷ്യ മകുടം ചൂടൻ ഭാഗ്യം ലഭിച്ചത് അപ്പോസ്തലനായ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ളീഹാക്കാണ്! 

വിശുദ്ധ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹ സുവിശേഷ പ്രഘോഷണത്തിനായി പോയത് സ്പെയിൻ ദേശത്തേക്കാണ്. അവിടുത്തെ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് കർത്താവിനെപ്പറ്റി  പഠിപ്പിച്ചു അവരെ വിശ്വാസികളാക്കി. ഒരിക്കൽ വലിയ ഒരു സൈന്യവുമായി മുഹമ്മദീയർ സ്പെയിൻ രാജ്യം  ആക്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ പരിഭ്രാന്തരായ രാജാവും ജനങ്ങളും തങ്ങളുടെ സ്വർഗീയ മധ്യസ്ഥനായ യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായുടെ സഹായം അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും, ശ്ലീഹ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒരു വെള്ളക്കുതിരയുടെ പുറത്തു, വെള്ളിടിത്തീ പോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന വാളുമേന്തി, മുഖ്യ ദൂതനായ റപ്പായേൽ മാലാഖയുമായെത്തി യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു രാജ്യത്തെ രക്ഷിച്ചത് ഒരു ചരിത്ര സത്യം!  

തിരുസഭയുടെയും സത്യ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെയും ശത്രുക്കളിൽനിന്നും, കൂടോത്രം, ദുർമന്ത്രവാദം, കൈവിഷം, അതുപോലുള്ള ആഭിചാരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും, ഇസ്ലാമിക ജിൻ പോലുള്ള ദുർശക്തികളിൽനിന്നും വിടുതലും സംരക്ഷണവും ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും യാക്കോബ് ശ്ലീഹായോടുള്ള ഈ പ്രാർത്ഥന വളരെ ഫലദായകമാണ്!

3rd Grandparents Day, Plenary Indulgence day in Catholic Church

നാം ഇപ്പോൾ ആയിരിക്കുന്നത് ദൈവകരുണയുടെ യുഗത്തിലാണ്. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനന്തമായ കരുണ പെരുമഴപോലെ ഇടതടവില്ലാതെ പെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന കാലം. ഏതൊരു കൊടും പാപിക്കും, തന്റെ പാപത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ബോധ്യം ലഭിച്ചാൽ അതിനെയോർത്തു ആഴമായി അനുതപിച്ചിട്ടു, കർത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വന്നു (തിരുസഭയിലെ പുരോഹിതനോട്) പാപസങ്കീർത്തനത്തിലൂടെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞാൽ പരിപൂർണ പാപമോചനം ഉടനടി ലഭിക്കും.  

എന്നാൽ ഒരുവൻ ചെയ്തുകൂട്ടിയ എല്ലാ പാപങ്ങളും പശ്ചാത്താപത്തോടുകൂടിയ കുമ്പസാരം വഴി ക്ഷമിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോഴും, പാപങ്ങളുടെ പരിണിതഫലങ്ങൾക്കു താൻതന്നെ പരിഹാരപ്രവർത്തികൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതായുണ്ട്. ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ മരണശേഷം സ്വർഗത്തിൽ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിന് മുൻപ് ശുദ്ധീകരണ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള കാലികശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ചു ശുദ്ധി പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതായുണ്ട്. 

ഇതിനു ഒരു പോംവഴിയായി കാലാകാലങ്ങളിൽ പ്രത്യേക സന്ദർഭങ്ങളിൽ കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയുടെ തലവന്മാരായ മാർപാപ്പാമാർ, തങ്ങൾക്കു സഭയുടെ സ്ഥാപകനും ഉടയവനുമായ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു നൽകിയ അധികാരം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് 'ദണ്ഡവിമോചനം' നൽകിവരുന്നു! ദണ്ഡവിമോചനം പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള ദിവസം നല്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള നിർദേശങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായി പാലിച്ചാൽ ഏതൊരു കൊടിയ പാപിക്കും  പരിപൂർണ വിശുദ്ധി പ്രാപിക്കാവുന്നതും (ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോഴോ മരണ ശേഷമോ സ്വന്തം പ്രവർത്തികളുടെ പരിണിത ഫലമായി അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന കാലിക ശിക്ഷകൾ അനുഭവിക്കാതെ തന്നെ)  മരണശേഷം നേരിട്ട് സ്വർഗത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്നതും ആണ്.

2023 ജൂലൈ 23 ഞായറാഴ്ച കത്തോലിക്കാ തിരുസഭ മുത്തച്ഛന്മാരുടെയും മുത്തച്ചിമാരുടെയും വയോധികരുടെയും ദിനം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. (ജൂലൈ മാസം 26 നു ദൈവമാതാവിന്റെ അമ്മയായ വിശുദ്ധ അന്നമ്മയുടെയും അപ്പനായ വിശുദ്ധ യോവാക്കീമിന്റെയും (St Joachim) (അതായതു നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ ഈശോ മിശിഹായുടെ വല്യപ്പച്ചന്റേയും വല്യമ്മച്ചിയുടേയും) തിരുന്നാളിന് അടുത്തുവരുന്ന 4-ആം ഞായറാഴ്ചയാണ് മുത്തച്ഛന്മാരുടെ/വയോധികരുടെ ദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്). 2021 മുതലാണ് ഫ്രാൻസിസ് മാർപാപ്പ World Grandparents Day കത്തോലിക്കാ തിരുസഭയിൽ ആചരിക്കാൻ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തത്.

Jesus Youth (JY) is the largest Catholic Movement in the world formed with the aim of helping the young people lead a moral and fulfilling life in accordance with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Youth, which was first formed in Kerala in India, has widely spread to five continents. It is recognized by the Holy Sea. Members of the Jesus Youth have been extending their services in many parts of the world.

Jesus Youth is conducting a national conference in Bangalore in 2023 October. It is titled as जाgo which means go go!
