Mar Joy Alappatt is Bishop of Chicago St Thomas Syro-Malabar Eparchy

Pope Francis has elevated and appointed Mar Joy Alappatt who was serving as the auxiliary Bishop, as the second Bishop of the Syro Malabar Eparchy of St Thomas at Chicago. This was in response to the resignation submitted by the first Bishop of the Chicago Syro Malabar Diocese, Mar Jacob Angadiath, on attaining the retirement age (75) prescribed by the Canon Law of the Catholic Church.

Being the first Bishop of the Syro Malabar Chicago Diocese which came into existence on 1st July 2001, Mar Angadiath extended his commendable services for 21 years for the overall development of the diocese.

Apostles' Creed of the Catholic Church: How to profess വിശ്വാസ പ്രമാണം?

Apostles' Creed is a solemn statement of Christian Faith composed by the 12 Apostles of the Divine Master Lord Jesus Christ and used for the proclamation of Faith in most Christian Churches particularly the Universal Catholic Church. And in the Catholic Church, the 'Pronouncement of Faith' is an important event observed during the Holy Mass and other Prayers regularly. 

The Apostles Creed is a powerful prayer as well. It is definitely more powerful than a Prayer. It is the action and process of 'affirming openly' a Christian's Faith to the world, gladly, proudly, and boldly. Sometimes proclaiming the Apostles Creed can even cost one's life, as we have been seeing these days in many countries like Nigeria, where Christian persecution has become a regular affair by the anti-Christian elements, especially the islamic terrorists!

Proclaiming the Apostles' Creed is a very powerful and effective action against satanic attacks. There are many devotees who pledge their 'Christian Faith' in times of danger and get immediate help from above. There are many stunning testimonies from many people who have even escaped wild animals' attacks by saying the Apostles' Creed!

Unfortunately, the Apostles Creed is not declared by some people with a clear understanding of its meaning and value. Most people by heart it and recite it automatically from their memory without perceiving properly the meanings of the content. 

How to say the Apostles Creed in Church? What 'Spiritual Body Language' is to be observed while reciting the Statement of Faith?

The Apostles' Creed is to be uttered or proclaimed aloud and clearly. While saying the Statement of Faith in the Church, one must stand erect. It is better to keep the right hand above the heart (on the left chest, as we do while making the National pledge) while proclaiming the Faith Creed than to keep hands joined as we do while Praying. (Whenever we make any prayer, we should keep the hands joined).

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under pontius pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into the hades; on the third day, He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Tabor Retreat Center at Ezhumuttom near Thodupupuzha in the Idukki district of Kerala is one of the oldest Catholic Charismatic Retreat Centers in India. Bus services and Route map:

Tabor is situated at Ezhuttam which is 12 km away from Thodupuzha - Karimannoor route. From Thodupuzha special KSRTC buses ply to and from the Retreat Center every Saturday. There are some private buses also that run between Thabore and Todupuzha. Tabor's own bus picks and drops retreatants from the main road at Ezhumuttom. As of now at 9.15 am a KSRTC bus starts from Thodupuzha private bus stand. And a private bus at 9.30 am. Those who get down at the main road at Ezhumuttom can either walk or hire an auto-rickshaw or get Tabor's bus.

1712 ഏപ്രിൽ 23ന് വാസുദേവൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെയും ദേവകിയമ്മയുടെയും മകനായി നീലകണ്ഠൻ പിള്ള എന്ന പേരിൽ കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ലയിലെ നട്ടാലത്ത് ജനിച്ചു. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ രാജ്യം എന്ന പേരിൽ അന്നത് കേരളത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു. മകനെ ഏറെ സ്നേഹിച്ച മാതാപിതാക്കൾ മലയാളം , തമിഴ് , സംസ്‌കൃതവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനൊപ്പം ആയോധനമുറകളും കായികപരിശീലനങ്ങളും അവന്‌ പഠിക്കാനുള്ള വഴിയൊരുക്കി. ഇടപെട്ട മേഖലകളിലെല്ലാം തൻറെ പ്രാവീണ്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയ നീലകണ്ഠൻ വലുതായപ്പോൾ അന്ന് തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന മാർത്താണ്ഡവർമ്മ മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബവുമായി തൻറെ പിതാവിനുണ്ടായിരുന്ന അടുപ്പത്തിന്റെയും തൻറെ കഴിവിനെയും പേരിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ കാര്യദർശികളിലൊരാളായി. യൗവ്വനത്തിൽ അമരാവതിപുരം മേക്കൂട്ട് തറവാട്ടിലെ ഭാർഗ്ഗവിയമ്മയെ വേളി കഴിച്ചു. 28 വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ നീലകണ്ഠൻ പദ്മനാഭപുരം കോവിലിലെ കാര്യവിചാരക്കാരനായി. മികവ് തെളിയിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഉയർന്ന സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങൾക്കും രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രീതിക്കും പാത്രമായി.

അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഡച്ച് ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇൻഡ്യ കമ്പനിയുടെ നാവികസേന കമാന്റർ ആയിരുന്ന യൂസ്‌താഷ്യസ് ബെനെഡിക്റ്റസ് ഡി ലനോയ് 1738 ൽ ഇൻഡ്യയിലെത്തി. മൂന്ന് കൊല്ലത്തിനു ശേഷം തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ മാർത്താണ്ഡവർമ്മ മഹാരാജാവുമായി നടന്ന കുളച്ചൽ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ സൈന്യത്തെ നയിച്ചു.

യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പരാജയപ്പെട്ട ഡച്ചു സൈന്യത്തോടൊപ്പം 23 വയസ്സുള്ള ഡി ലനോയിയും യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാരനായി. യുദ്ധതന്ത്രങ്ങളിൽ വിദഗ്ധനായ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് മാർത്താണ്ഡ വർമ്മ മഹാരാജാവ് സ്നേഹാദരങ്ങളോടെയാണ് പെരുമാറിയത് . പാശ്ചാത്യയുദ്ധതന്ത്രങ്ങളും പീരങ്കിയുടെ ഉപയോഗവും തിരുവിതാംകൂർ സൈന്യത്തെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാമോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചത് ഡി ലനോയ് സസന്തോഷം സമ്മതിച്ചു. വെല്ല്യകപ്പിത്താൻ ( The Great Captain) എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ഡിലനോയ് പെട്ടെന്ന് തന്നെ സർവ്വസൈന്യാധിപനായി .

തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേശത്തിന്റെ സുരക്ഷിതത്വത്തിനും പടക്കോപ്പുകൾ സൂക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള സൗകര്യത്തിനുമൊക്കെയായി ഉദയഗിരിയിൽ ഒരു കോട്ട പണിയാൻ ഡി ലനോയ് രാജാവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. ഉദയഗിരികോട്ടയുടെ നിർമ്മാണകാലത്താണ് നീലകണ്ഠൻ പിള്ളയും കത്തോലിക്കനായ ഡിലനോയും തമ്മിൽ സൗഹൃദത്തിലാവുന്നത്. കോട്ടനിർമ്മാണത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നവർക്ക് ശമ്പളം കൊടുക്കാൻ നീലകണ്ഠനെ ആയിരുന്നു രാജാവ് ഏർപ്പാടാക്കിയിരുന്നത്. കൃഷിനാശം , പണനഷ്ടം തുടങ്ങി വീട്ടിലെ ചില പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ കാരണം വിഷമിച്ചിരുന്ന നീലകണ്ഠനോട് ഡി ലനോയ് ഏകദൈവത്തെ പറ്റി സംസാരിച്ചു. മനുഷ്യരോടുള്ള സ്നേഹത്തെപ്രതി സ്വന്തം പുത്രനെ ഭൂമിയിലേക്കയച്ച പിതാവിനെപ്പറ്റിയും മനുഷ്യർക്കായി ജീവനർപ്പിച്ച പുത്രനെപ്പറ്റിയും ജീവിതത്തിൽ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ ഏറെ വന്നപ്പോഴും ദൈവത്തിൽ മാത്രം ശരണം വെച്ചു പിടിച്ചുനിന്ന ജോബിനെപ്പറ്റിയുമൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു.

മലയാളത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു ബൈബിൾ കോപ്പിയും വായിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

ക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്പറ്റി കേട്ടും ബൈബിൾ വായിച്ചും വിശ്വാസം വന്ന നീലകണ്ഠൻ ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായി സ്നാനപ്പെടാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു. രാജാവിന് അതിഷ്ടപ്പെടില്ലെന്നറിയാവുന്ന ഡി ലനോയ് അതിന്റെ പ്രത്യാഘാതങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റി മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് കൊടുത്തെങ്കിലും നീലകണ്ഠൻ തൻറെ ആഗ്രഹത്തിൽ ഉറച്ചു നിന്നു.അങ്ങനെ വടക്കുംകുളത്തു താമസിക്കുന്ന ഫാദർ ജിയോവാനി ബാറ്റിസ്റ്റ ബൂട്ടാരി എന്ന തനിക്കറിയാവുന്ന ഈശോ സഭാവൈദികന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം , മതകാര്യങ്ങൾ പഠിക്കാനും ജ്ഞാനസ്നാനത്തിനുമായി നീലകണ്ഠനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

ആ വൈദികനിൽ നിന്ന് ഈശോയെപ്പറ്റി കൂടുതൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയ നീലകണ്ഠൻ 1745 മെയ് 17ന് ലാസർ എന്നതിന്റെ തമിഴ് പതിപ്പായ ദൈവസഹായം എന്ന പേരിൽ ജ്ഞാനസ്‌നാനം സ്വീകരിച്ചു. മാമോദീസ സ്വീകരിച്ച ദിവസം അദ്ദേഹം തന്നെത്തന്നെ ക്രിസ്തുവിന് സമർപ്പിച്ചു. "ആരും എന്നെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചില്ല, എന്റെ സ്വന്തം ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരമാണ് ഞാൻ വന്നത്. എന്റെ ഹൃദയം എനിക്കറിയാം. അവനാണ് എന്റെ ദൈവം. അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പോകാൻ ഞാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു, എന്റെ ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവനും". ദേവസഹായം പറഞ്ഞു. ക്രിസ്തുമാർഗ്ഗം പിന്തുടർന്ന ദേവസഹായം തൻറെ ഭാര്യക്ക് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പറ്റി പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തതിന്റെ ഫലമായി ഭാർഗ്ഗവിയമ്മയും ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു. തെരേസ എന്ന പേരിന്റെ തമിഴ് പതിപ്പായ ജ്ഞാനപ്പൂ അമ്മാൾ എന്ന പേരാണ് മാമ്മോദീസക്ക് ശേഷം അവർ സ്വീകരിച്ചത്.

ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായ ദേവസഹായം മറ്റു ഹിന്ദുക്കളോട് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്പറ്റി പറയാനും ജാതിവ്യവസ്ഥകളും മറ്റും ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിച്ച് ഹിന്ദുമതത്തിലെ പോരായ്മകളെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാനും തുടങ്ങി. തൻറെ ജീവൻ അപകടത്തിലാകുമെന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹം മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നില്ല. ഒരിക്കൽ രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രീതിക്ക് പാത്രമായിരുന്ന ദേവസഹായം ഇപ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ അപ്രീതി സമ്പാദിച്ചതിന്റെ പേരിൽ രാജ്യദ്രോഹകുറ്റം ചുമത്തപ്പെട്ട് 1749ൽ തുറുങ്കിൽ അടക്കപ്പെട്ടു. തൻറെ ഇഷ്ടപാത്രമായ ദേവസഹായത്തെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാൻ രാജാവ് ആവതും ശ്രമിച്ചു.ക്രിസ്തുമതം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയാണെങ്കിൽ ഉന്നതമായ പദവികൾ നൽകാമെന്ന് രാജാവ് പറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും ദേവസഹായം അത്‌ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.തനിക്ക് വച്ചുനീട്ടിയ സുഖസൗകര്യങ്ങളും നല്ല ജീവിതവും ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പ്രതി അദ്ദേഹം വേണ്ടെന്നു വെച്ചു.

നിരന്തരമായ നിർബന്ധങ്ങൾക്ക് വഴങ്ങാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ പീഡനങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിച്ചു. ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് സഹിക്കാവുന്നതിന്റെ പരിധിക്കപ്പുറമുള്ള പീഡനങ്ങൾ. ദേവസഹായത്തെ ദുർഗന്ധമുള്ള എരിക്കിൻ പൂമാല അണിയിക്കാനും എരുമപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി പരിഹസിച്ചെഴുന്നെള്ളിക്കാനും ഓരോ ദിവസവും ചൂരൽ കൊണ്ട് മുപ്പത് അടിവീതം ഉള്ളം കാലിൽ അടിക്കാനും ശരീരത്തിൽ അടിയേറ്റുണ്ടാകുന്ന മുറിവുകളിൽ മുളക് പുരട്ടി വെയിലത്തിരുത്താനും കൽപ്പനയുണ്ടായി. മുളകുപൊടി തേക്കുമ്പോൾ വേദനിച്ചു പിടഞ്ഞുവീണ അദ്ദേഹം ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു, "ഹാ, എന്റെ കർത്താവെ, അങ്ങയുടെ കാൽവരിയാത്രയിൽ കുരിശുമായി മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം വീഴാൻ ഇടയായല്ലോ. ആ വീഴ്ചയോട് ഐക്യപ്പെടാൻ ഈ നിർഭാഗ്യനെയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യം എനിക്ക് എവിടെ നിന്ന് ?"

മുറിപ്പാടുകളിൽ മുളക് തേക്കാൻ ഏതെങ്കിലും ദിവസം മറന്നുപോയാൽ ദേവസഹായം രാജകിങ്കരന്മാരെ ഓർമ്മിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.എരുമപ്പുറത്തുനിന്ന് വീണപ്പോൾ വഴിയിലൂടെവലിച്ചിഴച്ചു . മുളകുവെള്ളം തിളപ്പിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെകൊണ്ട് ആവി പിടിപ്പിച്ചു. 'യേശുവേ , സഹായത്തിനെത്തണമേ' എന്ന് മാത്രം ദേവസഹായം പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.പെരുവിളയിൽ പശുത്തൊഴുത്തിനു സമീപമുള്ള വട്ടവേപ്പുമരത്തിൽ ഏഴുമാസത്തേക്ക് കെട്ടിവെക്കപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹം കാറ്റും വെയിലും സഹിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞുകൂടി.

കാൽവരിയിലെ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സഹനങ്ങളോട് അദ്ദേഹം തൻറെ സഹനങ്ങളെ ചേർത്തുവെച്ചു. ശാന്തതയും സൗമ്യതയും നിറഞ്ഞ പെരുമാറ്റവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹനശക്തിയും വളരെപ്പേരെ ക്രിസ്തുമതത്തിലേക്ക് ആകർഷിച്ചു. ഇതെല്ലാം കണ്ട് രാജാവ് കുപിതനായി . ഇനി ദേവസഹായം ഈ ഭൂമുഖത്ത് വേണ്ടെന്ന് തീരുമാനിച്ച രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കൊന്നുകളയാൻ ഭടന്മാരോട് കൽപ്പിച്ചു.

ഈ കൽപ്പന ഭടന്മാർ അറിയിച്ചപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രതികരണം ഇങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു, "ദൈവത്തിന് സ്തുതിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ. ഇത് ഞാൻ വളരെക്കാലമായി ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. അതിനിപ്പോൾ ദൈവാനുഗ്രഹമുണ്ടായതിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു. രാജകല്പന നിറവേറ്റാൻ താമസിക്കരുതെന്ന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു".

കർത്താവിന്റെ പീഡാനുഭവയാത്രയെ ഓർമ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്ന തരത്തിൽ സഹനം നിറഞ്ഞൊരു യാത്രയായിരുന്നു ദേവസഹായത്തിന്റെ അവസാനയാത്ര. വഴിമധ്യേ ദാഹശമനത്തിനു കുറച്ചു വെള്ളം ചോദിച്ച അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഇലയും ചകിരിയും ചീഞ്ഞഴുകിയ വെള്ളമാണ് കിട്ടിയത് . കുറച്ചുകൂടെ വെള്ളം ചോദിച്ചു ലഭിക്കാതിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ദേവസഹായം കൈമുട്ട് മടക്കി താനിരുന്ന പാറയിൽ അടിച്ചു. ഉടനെ അവിടെ നിന്ന് വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു. മുട്ടിടിച്ചാൻ പാറ എന്ന പേരിൽ അത് പിന്നീട് അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ആ ഉറവ ഇന്നും വറ്റിയിട്ടില്ല.

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ധീരത കണ്ട് ആരാച്ചാരന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞു, "നിന്നെ വിവാഹത്തിനല്ല, വധിക്കാനാണ് കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹം അതിനു നൽകിയ മറുപടി: " ഞാൻ എവിടേക്കാണ് പോകുന്നതെന്ന് എനിക്ക് നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയാം. എനിക്ക് മോക്ഷവിരുന്നും, ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥബഹുമാനവും വിവാഹവും ഇതുതന്നെ".

1752 ജനുവരി 14 ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നാൽപ്പതാം വയസ്സിൽ, ജ്ഞാനസ്‌നാനം സ്വീകരിച്ചതിന്റെ ഏഴാം വർഷത്തിൽ ചങ്ങലകളാൽ ബന്ധിച്ച് കാറ്റാടിമലയുടെ സമീപത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി. സഹനയാത്ര എത്തിനിന്നത് ആരൽവായ്മൊഴി എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുള്ള ഇന്നത്തെ മണിയടിച്ചാൻ പാറയിലാണ്. ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഇനിയൊരാളും അറിയരുത്, ശവശരീരം പോലും ആരും കണ്ടെത്തരുത് എന്ന ചിന്തയിലാണ് ഇത്രയും അകലെയുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥലം ദേവസഹായത്തെ കൊന്നുതള്ളാൻ വേണ്ടി അവർ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാൻ കാരണം.

അവസാനമായി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാൻ ദേവസഹായം കുറച്ചു സമയം ചോദിച്ചു. പ്രാർത്ഥന കഴിഞ്ഞ് ആരാച്ചാരന്മാരോട് പറഞ്ഞു, " പ്രിയ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട കാര്യം സഫലമായി. ഇനി നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇഷ്ടം പോലെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാം. മൂന്നു ഭടന്മാർ പാറപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ദേവസഹായത്തിനെ വെടിവെച്ചു. വെടിയേറ്റു പാറപ്പുറത്തു നിന്ന് വീണ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വീണ്ടും വെടിവെച്ചു. 'യേശുവേ രക്ഷിക്കണേ , മാതാവേ സഹായിക്കണേ' എന്നായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അന്ത്യമൊഴികൾ. ദേവസഹായം മരിച്ച നേരത്ത് പാറയുടെ ഒരു ഭാഗം അടർന്നുവീണു. വലിയൊരു മണിമുഴക്കമാണ് അവിടെ കേട്ടതെന്നു പറയുന്നു. കാട്ടിലേക്ക് എറിയപ്പെട്ട ദേവസഹായത്തിന്റെ ശരീരം കുറച്ചു ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികൾ കണ്ടെടുത്ത് സംസ്കരിച്ചു.

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൗതികശരീരം സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കോട്ടാർ സെന്റ് സേവിയേഴ്‌സ് കത്തീഡ്രലിലേക്ക് അനേകവർഷങ്ങളായി വിശ്വാസികളുടെ പ്രവാഹമാണ്. 2004 ൽ ആണ് മെത്രാന്മാരുടെ സമിതിയുടെ തമിഴ്നാട് ശാഖ ദേവസഹായത്തിന്റെ നാമകരണനടപടികൾക്ക് വേണ്ടി വത്തിക്കാനിലേക്ക് അപേക്ഷ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. 2012 അതിനു ബെനഡിക്ട് പതിനാറാമൻ പാപ്പയുടെ അംഗീകാരം ലഭിച്ചു. 2012 ൽ ഡിസംബർ 2 ന് ദൈവസഹായത്തെ കത്തോലിക്കസഭ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവനായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. മെയ് 15ന്‌ വിശുദ്ധരുടെ ഗണത്തിലേക്കുയർത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.

32 വർഷങ്ങൾ ഒരു ഹിന്ദുവായി ജീവിച്ച ദേവസഹായം പീഡനങ്ങളുടെ മുൻപിൽ പതറിയില്ല, തൻറെ നിലപാടുകൾ തിരുത്തിയില്ല. ജീവൻ അപകടത്തിലാണെന്നറിയാമായിരുന്നിട്ടും തൻറെ കാലത്തെ ഉച്ചനീചത്വങ്ങൾക്കെതിരായും ക്രിസ്തുവിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്തെപ്രതിയും ശബ്ദമുയർത്തി. നൂറു ശതമാനവും അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായിരുന്നു. ക്രിസ്ത്യാനി ആണെന്നവകാശപ്പെടുന്നവർക്ക് മാതൃകയും.

ക്രൈസ്തവരാണെന്നതിന്റെ പേരിൽ മാത്രം പീഡയനുഭവിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് , ദേവസഹായത്തിന്റെ വിജയഗാഥ വലിയ പ്രതീക്ഷയും പ്രചോദനവും നൽകുന്നു. തന്നെപ്രതി എല്ലാം പരിത്യജിച്ചവരെ ഒരിക്കലും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ലാത്ത ക്രിസ്തുനാഥൻ എന്നും അവരുടെ കൂടെയുണ്ടെന്നും മഹത്വത്തിന്റെ പാത അവരെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നുമുള്ള പ്രതീക്ഷ ഏതു കഷ്ടപ്പാടിലും പീഡനത്തിലും അവർക്ക് പ്രത്യാശ നൽകും. ഒരു ഭാരതീയനെന്ന നിലയിൽ, വിശുദ്ധ ദേവസഹായം എന്ന് പോപ്പ് ഫ്രാൻസിസിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹം നാമകരണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ നമുക്കും അഭിമാനിക്കാം.

I shall proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people around me. I shall spread the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout my life and shall courageously stand to respect and defend the precious gift of life from the moment of conception to natural death, resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of goodwill, the civilization of Truth and Love, to the praise and glory of God the Creator and lover of life.

Holy Mother Mary's recent miracles in Kannur Kerala: Raining MANNA

Bleeding Crucifix Miracle in Kerala on Good Friday 2022 @ Deva Matha Centre, Balal

This is the latest miracle that occurred in Kasargod District of Kerala in South India (near Kannur) recently during the last days of the Holy Week. Live video of the Crucifix that shed Blood on Good Friday 2022 at the house of Stigmatic Alphonsa (Omana). During the occurrence of that miracle, Alphonsa was experiencing 'stigmata' at her house which has become a Prayer house in Balal since 2014 (from the time she had an appearance of Holy virgin Mother Mary in the traditional attire of a Keralite Christian elderly lady).

Thalassery Diocese (Kasargod-Balal) Marian Miracles and Alphonsa's Stigmata

As the Holy Season of Lent 2022 ended a couple of days ago, some unusual miracles were reported in Kerala, particularly in the Northern Parts of the state. During the Holy Week especially on Good Friday, some mysterious miracles were witnessed by a gathering of devotees including Priests and Nuns in the Kannur and Kasargod Districts in two separate incidents.

'Missionaries of Marian Apparitions' Community founded by Kreupasanam

A dedicated Spiritual community has been initiated by Rev Fr Joseph Valiyaveettil of Kreupasanam Marian Shrine in Alleppy by name 'Missionaries of Marian Apparitions' with a noble aim of spreading all the glorious Apparitions of Holy Mother Mary in different parts of the world including that occurred in Kreupasanam on 7th December 2004.

Both young men and women who feel they are being called by God for proclaiming the Good News of Lord Jesus Christ to the world through Holy Mother Mary, can dedicate their lives and join this Spiritual community. Even young men, women, deacons, married couples and/or singles can join this community and serve the Lord for a minimum period of two years.

Wherever in the world when Holy mother Mary granted an apparition She gave a warning and or message from God. Those messages were intended for individuals, the Religious, nations, the Church, and the whole world.

By launching this new religious community, the founders aim to engage devotees in three mission categories.

1. MMA (Missionaries of Marian Apparitions) Nuns (Rev Sisters): for women who are willing to dedicate their lives to this Marian Mission.

2. MMA Deacons/Brothers: for men who are eager to dedicate their lives for the glory of Lord Jesus Christ.

3. Lay Apostolic MMA Missionaries: This is meant for anyone like young men, women, married deacons, couples, widows, etc who feel they have a Divine Calling and are willing to undertake this noble Mission for a minimum period of two years.

Best Christian de-addiction Centre (Treatment & Retreat) in Kerala-Snehasadan, Munnar

There are many de-addiction centers in Kerala. While some are started and function merely on commercial lines (as it is a thriving business), some others are founded with the noble purpose of freeing the hapless but valuable souls from the clutches of evil powers that have captivated and enslaved them. Very effective de-addiction programs (called camps) are held here for drug and alcohol addicts that last for 10 days. During the first five days, the patient is given medications as required after a thorough examination and spiritual healing is done during the second part of the treatment for 5 days. As the whole process is done by dedicated and devoted Sisters (Nuns) with the help of other trained staff/volunteers, every person will be taken special care of.

Snehasadan Retreat centre is not meant for drug addicts alone. It is a lovely place for those who are seeking an 'inner-healing' or 'deliverance' retreat. As the threat of the pandemics has disappeared and the covid protocols have been withdrawn, several types of Spiritual Retreats are held there for different age groups like children, teenagers, youths, adults, families, etc. Retreats are conducted by Spirit-filled Rev Fathers, Sisters, and gifted laity preachers. Whoever attends a five-day retreat in Snehasadan becomes Spiritually, mentally, and physically rejuvenated. 

As mentioned above, the prime focus of Snehasadan is to win souls. It is not a commercial center. The fees charged for food, accommodation, classes are very nomminal and affordable. If anyone is not able to pay even the small fees, he/she will be given free admission to the retreat programme.

Nalpatham Velli നാല്പതാം വെള്ളി 40th day in Holy Lent & Kozhukkatta thirunnal

Nalpatham Velli means the fortieth Friday. It is actually the fortieth Day in the Holy Season of Lent from the Danaha Thirunnal (Pethratha) according to the Eastern Christians in Kerala, that falls on a Friday. If calculated Friday-wise from the Ash Monday (Kurisuvara Thirunnal), it is the sixth Friday in the Valiya Nombu! 

Nalpatham Velly rituals (നാല്പതാം വെള്ളി ആചരണം) are marked in most Churches of the Syro-Malabar Sabha. Nalpatham Velli reminds the devotees who are on Fasting and Abstinence to intensify their spiritual and devotional activities for the Holy Week (പരിശുദ്ധ വാരം) that starts a couple of days after the 40th Friday. Usually, those faithful who failed to observe abstinence strictly until then (owing to various reasons) observe the last week of Lent (Holy Week) very strictly. 

On the Fortieth Friday, most Churches conduct the Way of the Cross in a Solemn manner to the nearby pilgrim mounts (Kurishumala). Devotees (even non-Christians) in large numbers even from far away places participate piously in this 'Kurisinte Vazhi' prayer undertaking many penitential activities voluntarily for the atonement and forgiveness of one's sins. Kanji is served to all after the Nalpatham Velly Prayers.

The Saturday that falls after Nalpatham Velli (before Palm Sunday/Hosanna Njayar) is known as Kozhukkattta Shani. In most Christian families they make കൊഴുക്കട്ട, a round-shaped pastry with rice flour that looks like stones! There are two beliefs associated with the Kozhukkatta snack.

Some people say that when the Lord Jesus Christ went to bring back to life again the dead Lazarus in Bethani, before a few days of His Passion and death, his sisters prepared some eatables similar to Kozhukkatta to serve the Lord! Some others think that these kozhukkattas are to mark the stones that were taken to throw on the Lord by the Jews!

This year's (2022) Nalpatham Velli (40th Day / sixth Friday) in the holy Lent falls on April 8th.

The whole world is preparing to witness the historical event within hours, which was demanded by the Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of Lord Jesus Christ when she gave her apparition in Fatima a hundred years ago. Our Blessed Lady of Fatima (in Portugal) appeared to three shepherd children from 13th May and 13th October in 1917. During Her apparitions, the Holy Mother had prophecized some matters to the children and asked them to reveal some to the authorities and to keep some of the prophecies as secrets until the Mother permitted them to reveal.

The Holy Mother asked repeatedly for repentance. She showed them a multitude of unrepenting sinners falling into hell. She also asked to pray for the conversion of sinners. The Holy Mother also foretold the time of the end of the 1st world war in 1918 and the beginning of the 2nd world war in 1939. The Holy Mother asked for the consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart. But for fear or some other reasons, the Heads of the Catholic Church never performed it specifically to date. And when Russia started attacking Ukraine, following the plea of Ukrainian Bishops and others, the Pope has decided to do that consecration ceremony immediately.

The Pope has invited all the Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, nuns and the laity to participate in the historical event to be held on 25th of March 2022 (the Solemnity of the Annunciation) at 6.30 pm Italian Time or 5.30 pm GMT for which the world is keenly looking forward to.
